Best of all, Guitar Studio works with any guitar.

Guitar Studio 2 is the only multitrack recording software designed just for guitar players. Now you can produce CD-quality music and sound projects quickly and affordably, right on your PC. Best of all, it works with the guitar you already own.

You get everything you need to record, edit and mix guitar projects from start to finish. You can even print tablature! So whether you play guitar professionally or for personal enjoyment, there is only one software package designed to fit your creative needs - Guitar Studio.

New features of Guitar Studio 2

  • Now record and play back up to 16 tracks of digital audio along with MIDI tracks. Great for recording multiple takes of guitar, or for producing your band's next CD.
  • Run up to 16 simultaneous real-time effects on your audio tracks. Combine chorus, echo, reverb, amp simulation and any other DirectX-compatible effect to create the perfect sound.
  • Edit and print guitar tablature along with standard notation. Enter notes with your PC mouse or keyboard, or transcribe a performance from MIDI guitar or any other MIDI instrument.
  • Compose and practice guitar parts with the enhanced fretboard window. The fretboard displays MIDI notes in real-time during Record and Playback, and stays in perfect synchronization with the tablature display.
  • Create professional drum tracks for your projects with the new Session Drummer MIDI FX plug-in. The Session Drummer works in real-time as a virtual drum machine, and also lets you save your drum arrangements as part of your Guitar Studio project file.
  • Add vintage amplifier simulation to dry digital audio tracks with the AmpSim Lite audio plug-in. The easiest way to get that vintage sound, without having to purchase and maintain expensive gear!
  • Import and synchronize digital video to your music and sound projects. Great for creating desktop music videos!
  • Draw volume and panning data to individual audio tracks using new vector-based automation.

Multitrack recorder

Record and mix up to 16 tracks of digital audio along with MIDI. Record using any guitar, MIDI instrument, or microphone! Add up to 16 simultaneous, real-time effects like chorus, reverb, delay and amp simulation.

For many guitar players, the multitrack cassette recorder is a familiar tool. That's why Guitar Studio provides a multitrack recording and mixing console that works like a hardware-based, multitrack recorder. From this Console view, you can record as many as 16 tracks of audio and 256 tracks of MIDI; add real-time effects processing like chorus, reverb and delay; and perform final mix-downs. Plus, you can modify MIDI tracks in real-time.

With 16 tracks of digital audio a guitarist can easily record other instruments or vocalists, or use the additional audio tracks to record and mix a project from multiple "takes." Support for 256 MIDI tracks allows the user to compose and arrange any music project with complete orchestration for piano, percussion, strings, or any other instrument.

Tablature

Guitar Studio now provides a Tablature display, which allows users to edit and print MIDI tracks as guitar notation. Users can view tablature alongside standard music notation, as well as viewing synchronized fingering on a fretboard window.

Tablature, standard notation and fretboard fingering are all simultaneously displayed in real-time during Record and PlaybackŃmaking Guitar Studio 2 an ideal tool for teaching and practicing guitar. It also supports customizable tablature algorithms, support for up to eight strings and alternate tunings, all of which can be saved as presets.

The Fretboard view now provides additional display options, such as mirrored display, alternate tunings, and additional fretboard textures.

Guitar tuner

The built-in chromatic tuner has also been improved, allowing guitar players to tune up their instruments faster and more accurately. Quickly and accurately tune your guitar or bass from within Guitar Studio using the chromatic guitar tuner. When the guitar tuner window is open, it analyzes any input signal from the sound card and displays the information on a meter.

New MIDI and Audio Plug-ins

Guitar Studio's real-time audio and MIDI effects capabilities are enhanced with the new Session Drummer MIDI FX plug-in and AmpSim Lite audio plug-in.

The Session Drummer allows users to quickly select, arrange and play realistic drum tracks to incorporate into original compositions, using a simple point and click method. The MIDI drums can play back on the internal sound card or any external MIDI instrument. The Session Drummer includes one hundred professionally recorded drum patterns that can be auditioned and arranged either in real-time or off-line. All drum patterns are provided by Vamtech, the industry-leading creator of professional MIDI drum performances.

The included AmpSim Lite plug-in is a special edition of Cakewalk's Audio FX™ 2 Amp and Tape effects package, which allows users to add realistic, analog simulation effects to digital audio tracks. Using two vintage amp models, British Overdrive and American Lead, guitarists are able to add vintage amplifier sounds to "dry" recorded audio tracks, without the expense of owning and maintaining expensive vintage gear.

Roland GR-30 Control Panel

Guitar Studio is seamlessly integrated with the Roland GR-30 guitar synthesizer via an on-screen control panel for accessing the GR-30's wide range of sounds and effects. With the control panel displayed during playback, you can customize instrument patches and change other MIDI-based settings in real-time.

The Guitar Technology Alliance

Cakewalk Guitar Studio is a key component of the Guitar Technology Alliance between Cakewalk, Fender, and Roland*each company a leader in its respective field. The alliance was formed to bridge the gap between guitar players and music software.

The first solution from this important industry alliance is the combination of three distinct products optimized to work together: Cakewalk Guitar StudioTM; the Roland GR-30 Guitar Synthesizer; and the Fender Roland-Ready Stratocaster¨, a classic Strat¨ with built-in Roland divided pickup.
